NextNet AI HTTP Header instructions

HTTP Header Requirements for NextNet AI

Overview

The NextNet AI HTTP Header allows NextNet AI to securely identify and verify your website when DNS (CNAME) configuration is not available or preferred. This header establishes authoritative ownership of the domain and enables full platform functionality, including AI visibility tracking, citation monitoring, and trust scoring.

This method is commonly used when:

  • DNS access is restricted or managed by a third party
  • A faster, application-level setup is preferred
  • You are operating behind a CDN, reverse proxy, or enterprise hosting environment

What the HTTP Header Does

When configured correctly, the HTTP header:

  • Confirms domain ownership for NextNet AI
  • Enables AI crawling and indexing alignment
  • Activates AIR Score, Citation Index, and Trust Signals
  • Allows NextNet AI telemetry to associate data accurately with your site

Without this header (or a CNAME), NextNet AI will operate in limited mode.

Required HTTP Header Format

You or your website admin will need to Add Two (2) HTML <link> Tags: Please add the following two HTML <link> tags to the <head> section of your site's public-facing pages (like the homepage, articles, product pages). Per their documentation, these headers should not be added to non-public pages like /wp-admin, /cart, or /login.

  • <link rel="vectorsitemap" type="application/json" href="[https://vectors.your-domain.com/vectorsitemap.json](https://vectors.your-domain.com/vectorsitemap.json)">
  • <link rel="jwks" type="application/json" href="[https://vectors.your-domain.com/.well-known/jwks.json](https://vectors.your-domain.com/.well-known/jwks.json)">

(Please remember to replace your-domain.com with your actual domain in the two lines above.)

What Happens If You Don’t Add the HTTP Header?

If neither a CNAME nor HTTP Header is configured:

You will still have access to:

  • Basic dashboard access
  • Limited AIR Score snapshots
  • Manual reporting views

You will not receive:

  • Full AI authority validation
  • Reliable citation attribution
  • Ongoing trust and drift monitoring
  • Accurate AI discoverability signals
