LLM NextNet AI FAQs
NextNet AI: Frequently Asked Questions
General Questions
- What is NextNet AI? NextNet AI is a platform that helps AI systems accurately understand your website and your business. As more people use AI tools to ask questions and get recommendations, NextNet AI ensures your business is interpreted correctly and represented clearly when those tools generate answers. It works in the background, without replacing your website or changing how you operate.
- What is the benefit of NextNet AI? NextNet AI helps your business stay visible when potential customers ask AI tools who to call, where to go, or which services to use. By improving how AI systems understand your website, it reduces the chance of your business being overlooked or misrepresented. The result is that your business is more likely to be included in AI-generated recommendations at the moment people are making decisions, helping protect and grow inbound calls, bookings, and visits over time.
Getting Started
- How do I add my website to the Next Net? Navigate to the My Domains section from the left-hand menu and click the "Add Domain"
- What is the "Domain Validation Checklist"? After adding a domain, you must complete the validation checklist. This involves several steps to verify your ownership and configuration, including Domain Ownership, JWKS Endpoint, TLS Certificate, Indexability, and Content Signing. You can click "Run All Checks" to begin the validation process. My domain status is "Pending." What does that mean? A "Pending" status means Next Net is still processing your domain or waiting for you to complete the validation steps. If your domain remains "Pending" for an extended period (e.g., 16+ hours), please contact support, as this may be a known issue.
- How do I integrate Next Net with WordPress? For your specific domain, go to My Domains -> Details -> Integrations. Here you can enable the WordPress Plugin, which will generate an API key. The steps are:
- Download the plugin
- Install it on your WordPress site
- Activate the plugin
- Configure it with the generated API key
Platform Features
1. What is the "Overview" dashboard?
The Overview page is your main dashboard. It provides a high-level summary of your site's performance, including your AIR Score, Avg Daily Citations, Drift Index (30 Days), and summaries of Action Items and Alerts.
2. What is the "Analytics" section?
This section breaks down your site's performance in detail: * Scoring: Shows a list of your pages with their individual AIR score, SemFit, Drift, and Trust status. * Drift & Telemetry: Monitors the stability and performance of your topics over time to ensure your content remains aligned. * Topics Analysis: Identifies and analyzes all the canonical (market) and native (discovered) topics relevant to your domain. * Content Labs: Scans your site for "Weak Chunks" (content needing optimization). You can then use the "Optimize" feature to get AI-powered suggestions for improving that content.
- What is the "Citations" section?
This section tracks how your content is being cited by AI engines and other sources.
- Brands: Shows how AI discuss your brands vs your compeditors
- Overview: Shows your total citations versus your competitors and identifies the citation gap.
- Evidence: This powerful screen shows the exact queries made to AI engines (like Perplexity and ChatPT) and lists the cited URLs from your domain that were used as a source.
- Topics, Engines, & Pages: These reports are designed to show citation performance by topic, AI engine, and specific page.
- What is the "Competitive Intel" section?
This area helps you track and analyze your competition.
- Competitor Domains: Add and manage your list of competitors.
- Topical Competition: A heatmap showing how you rank against competitors for specific topics.
- Coverage Depth: Analyzes how thoroughly your content covers "Authoritative Topics".
- Topical Proximity: A semantic map that visualizes your content's positioning (blue dots) against the ideal topic "centroid".
Definitions:
- AIR Score: Your overall AI visibility score (1-100) indicating the strength of your presence in AI answers and the likelihood that AI will reference your site.
- SemFit: Measures how well your content matches what AI expects for your topics; higher scores indicate clearer, more useful content for AI answers.
- Trust: Shows how credible and verified your site appears to AI systems; higher trust makes AI more confident using your content as a source.
- Citations: The number of times AI mentions or links to your site in its answers, representing real AI placements.
- Sentiment: Reflects whether AI discusses your brand positively, neutrally, or negatively, based on the tone used in its descriptions.
- Actions: System-generated next steps that provide specific instructions on what to fix or improve to grow your AI visibility.

What happens if I don’t connect my CNAME or HTTP header?
Short answer
NextNet AI will still work, but you will not receive the full authority, trust, and attribution benefits that come from verified ownership signals. Think of this as running the platform in a limited trust mode rather than a fully verified state.
What you will not get without a CNAME or HTTP header
If you do not connect the CNAME record, and the required HTTP headers, the following benefits are reduced or unavailable:
1. Verified Ownership Signals
- AI systems (and search engines) cannot cryptographically verify that the vectors, schema, and telemetry belong to your domain
- This limits trust acceleration for your content
2. Maximum AIR Authority Score Growth
- AIR Score can still be calculated, but growth will be slower
- You will not benefit from signed authority signals that increase AI reuse velocity
3. Signed Vector & Schema Trust
- Vector sitemaps and structured data are treated as unsigned
- This reduces provenance strength and EEAT reinforcement
4. Faster AI Indexing & Reuse
- AI systems are less confident reusing content that lacks verifiable domain ownership
- This can delay or reduce citations in AI answers
5. Advanced Trust Net Benefits
- Trust Nets rely on cryptographic proof tied to your domain
- Without verification, Trust Nets operate in a limited, observational mode
What you will still get without a CNAME or HTTP header.
Even without verification, you do not lose access to the core platform. You will still retain the following:
1. AIR Authority Score (Baseline)
- AIR Score will still be calculated and tracked
- You can monitor trends, improvements, and declines over time
2. Citation Tracking & Insights
You will still see:
- AI citations
- Mentioned topics
- Engines referencing your content
- Competitor comparisons
- Insights remain fully visible
3. Content Analysis & Optimization Guidance
- Content Labs recommendations still function
- You can see which pages need stronger topical relevance
4. Telemetry & Trend Detection
- Ranking and visibility shifts are still detected
- Alerts and monitoring continue to run
5. Competitor Intelligence
- Competitive benchmarking remains available
- You can still see how your authority compares within your market
Why we recommend connecting both verification methods.
Connecting CNAME and HTTP header allows NextNet AI to:
- Prove content ownership
- Sign vectors and schema
- Accelerate trust and reuse by AI systems
- Unlock the highest possible authority and citation velocity
Summary
| Area | Without CNAME / Header | With CNAME and Header |
|---|---|---|
| Platform Access | Full | Full |
| AIR Score | Baseline | Accelerated |
| Citation Tracking | Yes | Yes (higher trust) |
| AI Trust Signals | Limited | Verified |
| Vector & Schema Signing | No | Yes |
| Trust Nets | Observational | Fully Active |
Bottom line
You can use NextNet AI without verification, but connecting a CNAME and HTTP header unlocks the platform’s full authority, trust, and AI-native advantages. We strongly recommend completing this step when possible to maximize results.
